Climate Change Mitigation

German Sparkassenstiftung supports people, companies, and financial institutions in meeting the challenges of climate change and strengthening their resilience. Tools such as the ESG Risk Radar, the Sustainable Finance Compass and the Managing Climate Resilience Business Game promote the development and implementation of tailored strategies.

Women in Business

German Sparkassenstiftung aims to eliminate gender-specific differences in access to financial services and to strengthen over all gender equality in the long term.

Displacement and Migration

German Sparkassenstiftung supports refugees in establishing a new livelihood in the country of transit or home country. At the same time, it strengthens local host communities to enable economic integration.

Digital Transformation

German Sparkassenstiftung supports their partners in the development of digital financial services. To this end, processes are analyzed and automated and new technologies are introduced.

Capacity Development

Training and human resources development are integral components to all German Sparkassenstiftung's projects. In Central Asia, we have successfully introduced dual vocational training for bank specialists.

Financial Literacy

The most important desires in life are intangible, others involve money. Financial literacy is key to a responsible approach to money and a self-determined life. This was one of the main points of our projects in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. 

MSME Finance

Small and medium-sized enterprises are the bedrock of economic growth. They create most jobs. German Sparkassenstiftung supports financial institutions in improving their range of products and advisory services to meet the needs of MSMEs. This is also the case in our current project in Armenia, Georgia, Tajikistan, and Ukraine, which focuses on rural areas.

"Fair, caring, close by" - German Sparkassen combine their business success with a high level of social responsibility. German Sparkassenstiftung supports its partners worldwide in establishing regional financial institutions, associations and academies.

Rural Finance

Due to harvest cycles and seasonal fluctuations, farmers have special requirements in terms of financial services. German Sparkassenstiftung supports its partners in developing financial and insurance solutions for the entire value chain. 

Sustainable Finance

In the context of Germany's energy transition, Sparkassen have developed innovative solutions for financing investments in renewable energies. German Sparkassenstiftung is glad to share this experience with its partners around the world. Sustainable Finance is the focus in our current project in Armenia, Georgia, Tajikistan, and Ukraine.

German Sparkassen-stiftung

The German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation is the development-policy arm of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe. Its task is to disseminate the successful Sparkasse idea across borders and around the globe. The German Sparkassenstiftung strengthens financial institutions and promotes financial literacy for all segments of the population. This broadens access to financial services and helps to create jobs and generate income.
